This is an Obsidian crystal ball insribed with the famous "Om Mani PadMe Hum" mantra and the Buddhist Eight-spoked wheel.

The Eight spoke wheel, also known as Dharmacakra, "Wheel of Law" or "Wheel of Dharma" is one of the oldest symbol for Buddhism. The eight spokes represent the Noble Eightfold Path - the Buddha's teaching of the way to understand the truth about all things (enlightenment) and to end all sufferings.

Om Mani Padme Hum is the sacred lotus mantra which translates as “the jewel is in the lotus.” This mantra is also associated with Guan Yin or Avalokiteshvara. Each syllable within the chant has its own special meaning. Altogether the energy of this mantra is both sanctifying and inspiring. Om Mani PadMe Hum is also referred to as "The Mantra of Universal Protection".

Om or Aum, the first syllable, has many auspicious meanings in ancient Asian tradition and a strong clearing force in feng shui. It is representative of the vibration of the universe, the sound of truth and the voice of enlightenment or spiritual perfection. 

Mani means jewel and in sanskrit is often pronounced in conjunction with padme. Jewel lotus is considered another name for Guan Yin. She is known as “the one who hears the cries of the world.” It is believed that chanting the powerful mantra “om mani padme hume” while in the presence of a figure of Kwan Yin will draw her to one’s side in times of need. As a bodhisattva Kwan Yin can manifest as a person at will to dispel ignorance and confer blessings. Padme is the beautiful lotus flower, known to the Chinese as Lian Hua. It is an ancient symbol of the wholesome blossoming of a mind from darkness to enlightenment. The lotus plant rises from the mud of materialism, shoots through the water, representative of experience, and unfolds in the brilliant sunlight of enlightenment. In feng shui the lotus invites luck in love, social relationships and overall joy and happiness. It summons peace, harmony and tranquility.

Hum is a syllable representative of the esteemed trinity of man, heaven and earth. It is said to be the basis of all other mantras and chants. In feng shui the symbol for hum is known to summon the aid of cosmic forces to surmount adversity. Its presence offers protection and a good, steady life.
