Guan Yin is the benevolent and beloved bodhisattva or goddess of mercy. She is known for her bringing of peace and tranquility and often rests upon a lotus flower. Guan Yin (Kwan Yin, Kuan Yin) is the definitive goddess of charity and compassion. 

She is known as “the one who hears the cries of the world” and in Mahayana Buddhism as Avalokitesvara. In this school of Buddhism it is believed that proper incantation of her name transports one to a hear of a lotus which then one day leads to a bounteous and happy place in the Western heavens.

It is also believed that chanting the powerful mantra “om mani padme hum” in front of a statue of Guan Yin will draw her to one’s side in times of need. Vowing to resist rest until she could help all sentient beings reach enlightenment, Amitabha Buddha helped her by giving her a thousand arms to reach out with. To this day she is known to help guide people to both higher knowledge and safety.   

Thus she helps confer good karma on humans and guide them to the heavens where they can find peace and joy. She comforts the sick and the senile with her presence and is beloved by mankind for her generosity. Guan Yin is a loving companion to bring peace and kindness to all those who are less fortunate.

1. Place the goddess of mercy facing your main entrance, where she repel evil energies and offer blessings of safety to those who enter. From this position she can counter all negative chi.
2. Display Guan Yin statue at your praying altar where she will shower you with compassion and mercy. For her help to overcome tragedy or obstacles chant before her at least once a day. 
3. Place Guan Yin in a prominently in your family or living room where all members of the household will regularly see her. Here she will prevent tensions and disagreements in the family and bring a sense of calmness and peace to your relations. It is important that cursing and crudeness is avoided in front of her.
