Fuk Luk Sau are three of the most well-known and highly revered Deities among the Chinese. Initially, these three deities were known as the “Three Star Gods”; this was due to the fact that they used to be shimmering stars in the sky, which were a representation of the three values that mankind was always after.

These three star deities are strong icons of the most essential aspirations on which humankind depends; wealth, happiness and longevity. Each of these deities are often shown carrying with them different items with auspicious meanings – Fuk holds with him a scroll, which symbolizes beneficial inherent luck; he is also sometimes seen holding a child - which symbolizes good descendant luck. Luk, who is always seen in the center of the three deities, carries a gold ingot, and a “Ru Yi” (scepter of office), and symbolizes prosperity. Sau holds in his hands a staff with a Wu Lou and a peach (the fruit of immortality). Sau is a symbol of longevity and a healthy life.

These three star gods together are a representation of inner harmony; they are believed to bring unity to your family and endless good fortune to the residents of the house. The Fuk Luk Sau are not prayed to, but they must still be revered and respected.
